We are intentionally small – one form of entry – which means every child is known. Relationships are the cornerstone of our success. Pupils trust their teachers, teachers know their learners deeply, and families describe our school community as warm, friendly, nurturing and aspirational.
Thriving learners, exceptional outcomes
Springfield is rated Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (2023). Our curriculum is ambitious and carefully sequenced, and children benefit from expert teaching from a diverse, committed staff team. Despite serving a community with higher-than-average levels of need, Springfield consistently achieves outcomes above national averages. Reading is a particular strength, phonics outcomes are excellent, and pupils make strong progress across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Behaviour is exemplary. Visitors regularly comment on the calm, purposeful atmosphere in classrooms, and we have had no exclusions or suspensions in the last five years. Children feel safe, supported and confident to take risks in their learning.

A school rooted in community and inclusion
Springfield is one of Hackney’s most diverse schools, and this is a great strength. Children bring a wide range of languages, cultures and experiences, and we work deliberately to ensure every child feels they belong here.
We have a strong track record of supporting children with additional learning needs, physical needs and those who are new to English. High expectations run through everything we do, alongside care, expertise and close partnership with families.
Learning beyond the classroom
Springfield has something rare in inner London: a real woodland on site. Forest School is woven into the weekly rhythm of school life and supports children to develop resilience, curiosity and independence through hands-on exploration and creative play in nature.
Outdoor learning extends beyond Forest School. Children increasingly learn beyond the classroom as well as within it, across subjects such as science, geography, art, history and play.

Growing confident, thoughtful people
We want children to leave Springfield not only with excellent academic outcomes, but as confident, articulate and compassionate individuals. Our values are visible in daily life – in classrooms, in assemblies, and in the way children speak about themselves and one another.
Families tell us their children are happy, excited to come to school, and proud to be part of this community. These views matter, and they reflect what you will see when you visit.
A message from the Headteacher
I am delighted to have joined Springfield as Headteacher. I am building on the excellent work of my predecessor and working alongside a highly capable, caring and longstanding staff team. Springfield is already an excellent school – a place of high expectations, strong outcomes and a real sense of belonging – and together we will continue to help every child thrive.
We run regular open morning tours throughout the year, and occasional in-year places do arise. If you would like to see Springfield in action, we would be delighted to welcome you.
Jack Sloan
Headteacher
