Ethos & Vision

Learn together, grow together.

At Springfield Community Primary School, our ethos is simple and strong: children thrive when they feel safe, valued and challenged.

We are a small, inclusive school where every child is known. Relationships sit at the heart of everything we do – between children and adults, with families, and across our wider community. This sense of belonging creates the conditions for children to grow into confident, curious and thoughtful learners.

High expectations, excellent outcomes

We believe that all children can succeed, regardless of background, starting point or need. Our vision is rooted in high expectations and ambition for every child.

Teaching at Springfield is purposeful and engaging. Our curriculum is carefully designed so that children build secure knowledge and skills over time, with reading at its heart. Pupils are supported to think deeply, ask questions, and take pride in their learning. As a result, children make strong progress and leave Springfield well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Inclusion and belonging

Springfield is a diverse community, and we see this as a great strength. Children bring a wide range of languages, cultures and experiences, and we work hard to ensure that every child feels they belong.

We take an inclusive approach to learning and wellbeing. Children with additional needs and those learning English as an additional language are supported thoughtfully and consistently, with close partnership between school and families. We focus on understanding each child as an individual and adapting our teaching so that all can flourish.

Learning beyond the classroom

We believe learning should be active, meaningful and joyful. Play, talk and exploration are central to how children learn, particularly in the early years, but this approach continues throughout the school.

Springfield benefits from exceptional outdoor space, including our own woodland area. Outdoor learning and Forest School are part of the rhythm of school life and support children’s wellbeing, confidence and independence, alongside their academic development.

Growing confident, responsible citizens

Alongside academic success, we want children to grow into kind, articulate and responsible people. Our values are lived out daily – in classrooms, in assemblies, and in the way children treat one another.

Children are encouraged to use their voice, listen to others, and understand their place in the wider world. We want Springfield pupils to leave us not only with strong outcomes, but with empathy, resilience and a sense of purpose.

Working in partnership with families

Families are central to school life at Springfield. We value open communication and work closely with parents and carers so they feel informed, involved and confident in supporting their child’s learning.

Together, we create a school community where children feel proud of who they are and excited about who they are becoming.
